The Haircut

The time has come.  The haircut became inevitable.  I did have professional pictures taken of him before we did the haircut.  (I will try to scan those into the blog at some point) My dad had agreed to cut his hair, he also used to cut mine and Karen's bangs when we were little.  I had a little bit of a hard time with it but after it was done and I looked back at the "before" photos I realized it need to be done and now I like it.  :O)

BEFORE

DURING...my dad hard at work.  And it was hard, Nick wasn't really sitting still.
My mom was the faithful assistant.
AFTER:  He fell asleep almost immediately after the haircut
It's done!  And he's adorable!!

Sleeping in the swing

This may not be that exciting of a picture but it has to be documented.  :O)  Nick loves to sleep in his swing.  He doesn't have much use for it anymore other than napping, but he still loves to sleep in it.  The entire time he was in daycare (feb-june) this was really the only way they could get him to sleep.  I just want to take a moment to pay tribute to our swing as I know it days are numbered and I am here to say, "swing...we will miss you.  BUT, this is not good bye, it's just until next time."  :O)

Hanging with Grandma

We like to spend time at my parents house in Alpine whenever possible.  This was Memorial Day weekend and we went with the intention of staying just Sunday night and then heading home early Monday morning.  However, my mom cooked for us and helped so much with Nicholas that we stayed until late on Monday.  We had so much fun!  Raz and I think of it as our place to vacation.  :O)  Also, another reason Grandma is so awesome is that she has bought all kinds of fun things for Nicholas to play with.

Oh, and he also like to play in her toys.  :O) This was early Monday morning and Grandma was watching Nicholas so his parents could sleep in.  She said he liked the swing and it didn't take long before he was fast asleep.
When I woke up not only was she rocking Nick in the swing but she was also hanging out with Rocky.  She is the best Grandma ever, to grandkids AND dogs!!

What could cause a look like this?

So Raz's brother Hugo came in and grabbed Raz's guitar.  He started playing it and this is what the boys did.  They were playing and into what they were doing but when the music started they were statues.

Then he started to sing...

They still just keep staring and remained mesmerized.  Did they like it or think what is that awful noise???

6 Months Fun!

I'm 6 months old now. I  love to read books.  Sometimes I just lounge around and read for hours.  Actually I mostly just like to chew on the books.
I also already know what to do with a spoon, yep I am pretty smart!

Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day!  Somehow I didn't envision me in a bathing suit. :O)  We had a nice day we went out to breakfast with Hugo, Angie, Alex and The Garcia's.  We went to Hometown Buffet because that is Griselda's favorite place to go.  Then we went to church, I had always wanted to be one of the mothers that would be honored at church on Mother's day.  I love the part where you get to stand up and they pray for you.  Unfortunately I was in the nursing room but I was still glad I was there.  Then we went to our friend's daughter's first birthday party.  It was at the YMCA in Santee and they have a kiddie pool that all kinds of fun stuff for kids to play in.  It was fun.  It was Nicholas' second time in the pool but first time he got to sit on his own.  (Even though I did keep my hand on his back just in case)  He had fun but he never looked at the camera, he was too busy splashing and checking out the water.

First vacation

We took a vacation to Palm Springs, just for the weekend.  Here are some pics of our trip.  This was of course Nick's first time in a hotel and in a pool.  There are a few pictures of Nicholas on the hotel bed.  He actually loved that bed because it was just hard enough for him to really be able to sit up and play.  He loved it so much he didn't go to sleep that night until close to midnight.  We loved being there and experiencing all these firsts, we had a blast!!

Sitting up all by myself

I started teaching him to sit up on Monday of this week and by Friday he was doing it.  I am not joking, he learned it in less than one week.  He is so busy now when he sits up, he just plays and plays and even lundges forward to get to stuff.  So much so that it was very difficut for me to get a picture of him looking at me.  Most of the ones I took that night look like the first picture, basically the top of his head.  Finally at the end I got two where he is actually looking at me.  The last one was when he was starting to get worn out.  :O)  Note the pillow behind him.  He can catch himself if he leans forward or side to side but backwards he just lets himself go.  He's already had a few kerplunks on the floor but he doesn't seem to mind.  He's such a good boy.

Starting Solids

This picture was taken before we started the rice cereal.
He seemed to like his new big boy high chair.  :O)

This picture was taken after we started the rice cereal.  He wasn't thrilled to say the least.

We had a good time in the end though.  He thought
mommy was funny when she was trying to eat his
food. On the bright side he seemed to like his sippy
cup.  :O)
